Our traditional food pyramid continues to evolve, and fresh vegetables like our asparagus continue to be a foundational element to good nutrition.

Both potent and wonderfully delicious: Asparagus is a very low-calorie vegetable and provides fiber - 100g of fresh spears carries just 20 calories, and offers 2.1g of fiber. Its shoots have long been used in many traditional medicines and as a good source of anti-oxidants to help protect the body from possible cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, and viral infections. It is also rich in folates to aid DNA synthesis inside the cell, and even help with newborn baby nutrition.

Did You Know?

You knew vegetables were good for you, but did you know they are easy to digest for your budget? In one study, ERS research showed that it was possible for a person on a 2,000-calorie diet to eat a sufficient quantity and variety of fruits and vegetables for about $2.10 to $2.60 per day. The report also illustrates the variety of fruits and vegetables affordable to a family on a limited budget.

Scholarship Recipient

The money from this scholarship will help me pay for my son’s school tuition and for a new uniform. He’s currently attending 6th grade and has managed to keep excellent grades. He wants to become a doctor when he grows up to help kids in his community when they get sick. Thank you, for helping my son achieve his dream of becoming a doctor.

Rich flavor and the perfect crunch

They were delicious! They had a rich flavor and the perfect crunch which made my mouth water. My son is not a big fan of vegetables and I was really surprised that he actually ate and enjoyed them as much as I did. I will definitely be adding them to my grocery list next time I go shopping.
